Unit description

Presents the underlying theoretical frameworks, methodologies and practices evident in Aboriginal ways of teaching and learning. Students will explore the relevance of these approaches and opportunities for inclusion in contemporary education.

Topic 1: Principles and Methods in Indigenous Pedagogy
Topic 2: Engagement in Practice
Topic 3: Engagement in Practice II
Topic 4: Co design project

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1describe Yarning, Respectful Design, Eight Ways and other models of Indigenous pedagogy
2summarise the interactive basis for Indigenous pedagogy
3engage in group expressions of achievement within Indigenous Pedagogy as a basis for comparative analysis with normative education.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
