Unit description
Engages students with curriculum, assessment and pedagogy in the key learning area of Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE), with a focus on Primary Years: Foundation/Kindergarten - Year 6 within the continuum of learning. Students critically engage with the role, value, issues and future of HSIE and the content and process of teaching Australian and world history, geography, participatory citizenship, values and ethics. Focuses on developing integrated assessment, teaching and learning strategies in response to the priorities of inquiry-based learning, differentiation, disability and inclusion, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander cultures, digital technologies, literacy and numeracy.

Module 5: What is authentic pedagogy and assessment?
Module 6: Society in the 4th Industrial Revolution

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. | 3 | motivate children to engage as active citizens, asking questions and making responsible decisions about issues at the personal, local, national, and global level; as well as engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture |
| 4 | plan integrated and learning sequences (and supporting ICT resources), which include a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to cater for diverse learning needs and children’s interests |
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
