Unit description

This unit enables students to formulate, execute and communicate the outcomes of a major research project related to their discipline in a professional workplace environment.  Students will integrate the knowledge and skills gained through the course of their studies, including technical capability, project planning and design, communication, teamwork and management.  Students will also finalise an ePortfolio that documents the development of proficiency in their field.

Unit content

Students are required to work independently on their major project under the guidance of academic and workplace supervisors.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1Using systematic processes, independently formulate, design and manage the implementation of a complex project in the chosen field of discipline within a workplace.
2Collaborate, evaluate and select from alternative design solutions to a complex problem in the chosen field of discipline within a workplace.
3Effectively communicate outcomes from a complex project to a range of stakeholders in written and oral forms.
4Critically reflect on and self-assess development of proficiency in conducting industry research in your discipline.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
