Unit description

Facilitates students to design and conduct original research under the supervision of at least two supervisors in a cohort model.  Candidates are required to write a thesis of at least 50,000 words or equivalent. 

Unit content

A Candidate's research is supervised by of at least two supervisors in a cohort model.  The research is designed and conducted under the close guidance of the candidate's supervisors. No research can be undertaken without ethics approval by SCU and/or the appropriate state provider.  Candidates are required to complete an in-candidature review, progress reports and any other additional requirements as deemed by the Graduate School.  

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1design and conduct original and ethically-approved research within the area of education or an education-related field of research
2prepare a thesis (50,000 words) or equivalent in an education or education-related field of research
