Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to: | GA1 | GA2 | GA3 | GA4 | GA5 | GA6 | GA7 | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | demonstrate an understanding of load actions acting on bodies in equilibrium | Knowledge of a discipline | ||||||
2 | demonstrate proficiency in calculating reactions in beams and trusses | Knowledge of a discipline | ||||||
3 | determine properties of area including centroids and first and second moments of area | Knowledge of a discipline | ||||||
4 | analyse axial force, shear force and bending moments in simple structures | Knowledge of a discipline | ||||||
5 | analyse simply supported trusses to determine member forces | Knowledge of a discipline | ||||||
6 | analyse problems involving frictional forces. | Knowledge of a discipline |
