Introduces students to concrete technology, investigating the key parameters that affect the strength and durability of concrete. The unit also demonstrates how reinforcing steel is used to design strong, versatile and cost effective concrete structures. The design of beams, slabs and columns are covered, in addition to specific aspects of detailing reinforced concrete structures.
