Unit description
Develops students’ capability in the design of municipal infrastructure, particularly focusing on highways and subdivisions. The unit covers the geometric design of highways along with the design of different pavement types, including rigid and flexible pavements, and pavement management. A complete subdivision will be designed, considering aspects of water supply, sewage, drainage, land planning, road and block layout. The basics of surveying will also be covered, including the typical interactions that occur between surveyors and engineers.
