Introduces the fundamental principles of design of concrete stuctures. Students will learn how to analyse, design and detail reinforced concrete sections for buildings, including beams, columns, slabs and foundations using limit states design. Students will also gain an understanding of concrete reinforcing design and inspection.
General concepts of reinforced concrete structures
Loads and limit states design of reinforced concrete structures
Design of reinforced concrete beams, slabs, columns and pad foundations
Detailing, anchorage and curtailment of reinforced concrete structures
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
