Unit description
Develops a detailed technical knowledge of the complex hydrodynamic and sediment transport processes that operate in rivers, estuaries and the coastal ocean. The combined influence of these processes is used to explain and interpret the geomorphology of fluvial and coastal landscapes.
Unit content
1. Hydrodynamics of natural streams
2. Fluvial erosion, sediment transport and sediment deposition
3. Geomorphic characteristics and evolution of fluvial systems
4. Hydrodynamics of the coastal ocean and mechanics of water waves
5. Erosion, transport and deposition of marine sediments
6. Geomorphic characteristics and evolution of estuaries and beaches
