2020 unit offering information will be available in September 2019
Extends and applies a student's knowledge of hydrology, geology and chemistry to investigate the way in which surface hydrology, sub-surface geology and human activities influence the properties of groundwater. The unit seeks to develop an advanced conceptual understanding, and skills in field investigation, laboratory analysis and computer modelling, of groundwater systems.
Aquifer geology and sedimentology
Hydraulics of groundwater flow
Geochemical characteristics of groundwater
Groundwater-surface water connectivity
Coastal groundwater systems
Field methods for groundwater investigations
Contaminant transport in groundwater systems
Numerical modelling of groundwater systems
Groundwater use, management and protection
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
