Extends and applies a student's knowledge of open channel hydraulics, catchment hydrology and geomorphology to understand and analyse the dynamic interactions between streamflow, the fluvial landscape, and human activities. The unit seeks to develop an advanced conceptual understanding, and skills in field investigation and computer modelling, of contemporary fluvial systems.
Hydraulic behaviour of natural rivers and floodplains
Geomorphic characteristics of Australian fluvial systems
Fluvial erosion, sediment transport and sediment deposition
Fluvial sedimentology and geochronology
Evolution of rivers and floodplains
Human impacts on rivers and floodplains
River management and rehabilitation
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
Learning outcomes and graduate attributes
|On completion of this unit, students should be able to:||GA1||GA2||GA3||GA4||GA5||GA6||GA7|
