Availabilities:
2024 unit offering information will be available in November 2023
Unit description
This unit helps students to explore the neurophysiology of movement control and gain a greater understanding of the sensorimotor adaptations to neuromuscular conditions. Students will develop knowledge of, and practical skills related to, sensorimotor assessment techniques in sports, exercise and clinical settings.
Unit content
- Introductory concepts in motor control
- Neurophysiological basis of movement
- Sensorimotor control assessments in sport, exercise and clinical settings 1
- Sensorimotor control assessments in sport, exercise and clinical settings 2
- Motor control across the lifespan
- Motor control with injury and neurological disease
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to: | |
---|---|
1 | identify and demonstrate knowledge of neural structures and pathways involved in the control of movement |
2 | examine the effect of different physiological states and conditions on movement control and skill execution |
3 | conduct and interpret motor control and skill assessments applicable to exercise science practice |
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
- identify and demonstrate knowledge of neural structures and pathways involved in the control of movement
- examine the effect of different physiological states and conditions on movement control and skill execution
- conduct and interpret motor control and skill assessments applicable to exercise science practice
