Develops a foundational knowledge of the principles of practitioner self-care, safety in healthcare and health assessment. With this knowledge, students are provided with an opportunity to work alongside their interdisciplinary colleagues to acquire, practise and demonstrate foundational communication, observational and assessment skills that underpin clinical practice. Practice in laboratory sessions and simulated rehearsal prepares students to carry out foundational assessment skills ensuring a focus on patient safety and minimising adverse events.
