Unit description
Examines the principles and objectives of effective exercise assessment programs. Program design is studied in detail in relation to different populations. Aspects of consultation, interview and testing techniques, health education and counselling will be studied with an emphasis on developing practical skills.
Unit content
- General considerations for the target pathologies – overview and introduction
- Overview of medical and surgical intervention and the impact of participation in exercise.
- Evidence associated with mode, intensity, duration, frequency, volume and progression for a pathological condition
- The construction of evidence based safe and effective exercise plans
- Incorporation of goal setting, medical history and clinical status
- The provision of first aid, and appropriate reporting within multidisciplinary settings.
