Unit description

Engages students in an advanced professional learning experience that offers practical work in the tourism and hospitality industry. Students focus on advancing their careers within a 600 hour internship over a 6-month period by integrating academic learning into an advanced professional and practical learning experience.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate knowledge of operational supervision in the hospitality industry
2identify and analyse the larger social, industrial and economic forces that shape supervisory practices in the hospitality industry
3demonstrate the capability to apply a suite of theories studied at The Hotel School in supervisory practices in the hospitality industry
4demonstrate the knowledge and skills to reflect upon the challenges of supervising staff in the hospitality industry.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
