Unit description

Introduces students to the principles and practices of event operations management.  Students focus on the resourcing, scheduling and logistics involved in the staging of an event.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate knowledge of the key elements in staging an event
2identify and critically analyse the challenges involved in staging an event
3demonstrate the capability to develop an event operations manual that addresses the goals and budget parameters of the event and its key stakeholders
4demonstrate the knowledge and skills to reflect upon the challenges of staging a convention or event and how these challenges are managed.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
