Unit description

Introduces students to the phenomena of festivals, special, and mega events. Students focus on the goals and interests of key parties including: government and regulatory agencies, sponsors, community and industry bodies, event performers/competitors, and ancillary service providers.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate knowledge of festivals and special and mega events, their stakeholders, and their role in contemporary society.
2identify and analyse the economic, environmental, socio-cultural and political dimensions of staging a festival, special or mega event
3demonstrate the capability to conceive, design and plan a festival or special or mega event
4demonstrate the knowledge and skills to reflect upon the challenges of staging a festival or special or mega event and how these challenges are managed.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. demonstrate knowledge of festivals and special and mega events, their stakeholders, and their role in contemporary society.
