Unit description

Introduces students to digital information and operating technologies in the hospitality industry.  Students focus on how information and technology systems inform strategy, facilitate performance reporting and analysis, and drive operating processes.

  2. Restaurant and Lodging Technology Systems
  3. Guest Centric Technologies
  4. Project Management and Data Mining in Hospitality
  5. Automation and Robotics in the Hospitality Industry

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate knowledge of the key strategic, managerial and operational elements of digital information and technology systems in hospitality;
2identify and critically analyse the role of management in digital information and technology systems in hospitality;
3demonstrate the capability to design and propose a digital information and technology system for hospitality;
4demonstrate the knowledge and skills to reflect upon the challenges of integrating digital information and technology systems to drive enhanced guest satisfaction and profitability.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
