Unit description
Examines the socio-cultural, economic and global drivers of operational effectiveness across contemporary hotel structures. An exploration of tourist, guest and customer requirements will enable students to adapt to the complex dynamics of globalisation and diversity, through destination image, marketing segmentation, supply chain management, quality control, and technology.

This unit has 6 topics:
1. Introduction to hotel landscapes: the big picture
2. Contemporary issues for hotel structures
3. Marketing and the globalised hotel guest
4. Managing the hotel supply chain
5. Planning, operations and control in the contemporary hotel
6. Global hotel futures
