Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to apply research for real-life industry/business problems and solutions that support business decision making and outcomes. Students utilise knowledge gained from earlier units to prepare and present a research plan that investigates a hospitality-related problem. Students will present their proposals to academic and industry stakeholders.
Part A of the Applied Hotel Research unit enables students to identify and generate a proposal for a ‘real time’ industry problem. The research project will be completed in Applied Hotel Research Part B.
This unit contains 6 topics
1 Introduction to applied research
2 Determining research scope and focus
3 Literature – what we know and need to know
4 Research design
5 Assessing data sources, quality and relevancy
6 Presenting the research proposal
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
