Unit description

Provides HR practitioners and line managers with the knowledge and skills to engage in strategic human resource planning in the context of the major human resource functions. HRM operational processes and practices will be described and the role of the HRM professional in building the human capital of the organisation will be explored.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1apply scholarly theory, concepts and practical processes to Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM)
2critically analyse the major HR functions, processes and players within an organisational context and appreciation of their role in strategic HR
3research, analyse and cogently argue appropriate and creative solutions to human resource management issues in academic and workplace genres
4Write an original communication for a specific audience.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
