Unit description

Candidates undertake advanced research on an approved topic under the supervision of at least two supervisors approved by the higher degrees research committee, and are required to write a thesis of at least 50,000 words.

Unit content

Students complete an approved program of supervised research publication and submit a thesis which makes an original as well as significant contribution to knowledge in the discipline area of Indigenous Knowledge.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1Gather, analyse and interpret information via an Indigenous Knowledge framework.
2Utilise appropriate Indigenous research methodologies.
3Create an original and significant contribution to the field of Indigenous Knowledge and a positive social outcome for Indigenous People involved.
4Demonstrate high level capacity for relational independent research with Indigenous communities.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
