Unit description

Develops an understanding of the breadth of the information technology discipline. Students will develop a working knowledge of programming, augmented and virtual technologies and the user experience, data science and networking/cybersecurity.

Unit content

Module 3:  From Algorithms to Programs              

Module 4:  Basic Data Manipulation        

Module 5:  Data Analysis and Visualisation

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1identify problems in an application area that can be solved with information and communications technology (ICT)
2demonstrate how ICT can support decision making using data
3discuss the key principles of user experience design in ICT applications
4explain how data can be exchanged securely over computer networks
