Unit description

This unit continues the project in ISY10221 - Computing Project I. It requires students to control and finalise their project and perform software prototyping, coding, testing and installation. Students will have opportunities to demonstrate and apply their skills of project management, software validation, programming, testing, documentation, communication and maintenance of relationships with other stakeholders. A student will demonstrate skills specific to their major of study as well as core skills applied to the project undertaken.

Unit content

There are no new topics introduced for this unit, as it is a capstone unit where you are expected to demonstrate the skills to undertake the development of a project. The topics of most relevance to achieving the goals of this unit are as follows:

  1. Project management
  2. Systems development
  3. Programming
  4. User training
  5. Report writing

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1use project management techniques to manage a substantial computing project relevant to a student's course major
2apply appropriate systems development methodologies in the development of a computer system or computer application from a detailed system specification
3develop and document user manuals and user training programs
4integrate information technologies to achieve a working information system
5interact with users during all stages of system development
6develop and implement program and system testing strategies.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
