Unit description

Considers ways to understand user needs, goals and tasks. This unit deals with analysis methods for human-centred design of information-rich user interfaces and user experiences. Covers methods applicable to formative and summative testing and evaluation. Students learn to extract and analyse findings into audience segments, personas and scenarios that model user behaviour.

  4. Evaluate requirements and design for different contexts

  5. Envisioning design alternatives using emerging technologies

  6. Effective communication skills and strategies

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1apply contemporary and traditional methods to understand user and product requirements
2analyse and report on user evaluation and feedback for interactive applications and services
3produce documentation, models and presentations to communicate requirements and designs to multiple stakeholders
4evaluate and demonstrate improvements in interaction and user experience designs using current or emerging technologies

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
