Unit description
Follows on from Chinese Language IIA to complete students' basic grounding in Modern Standard Chinese. Speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Chinese are further developed, as are students' skills and strategies as a language learner. Attention is given both to the structures and patterns of the language, as well as to its socio-cultural context; and various aspects of Chinese culture, customs and society are introduced through studying spoken and written language texts.

- Chinese culture: customs, festivals, scholarly arts, tourism and leisure
- Geography and statistics of China
- Passive and conditional sentences
- Resultative complements
- Verbs
- Expressing sequences of actions or events
- Two-part sentences
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
