Unit description

Consolidating all the skills and knowledge of a suite of private law units, this capstone identifies key areas in the Private Law sector focusing on compensation in relation to torts and contracts, dispute resolution, unconscionability and equitable remedies.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate knowledge of Australian dispute resolution principles
2evaluate the role of lawyers in Australian dispute resolution procedures
3apply the principles and rules of equitable estoppel, restitution and equitable remedies
4apply the principles and rules of remedies in private law, with emphasis on Torts, Contracts, and Australian consumer law
5evaluate the principles related to Australian dispute resolution in the context of private claims and disputes based on the principles of private law

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. demonstrate knowledge of Australian dispute resolution principles
