Unit description

Introduces students to the global legal system, and specifically global business law. It is important for all persons who are working in, or would like to work in, global business in some form, whether it be in exporting or importing of goods and/or services, to have an appreciation of the role played by the law in regulating global trade between nations. Where appropriate, emphasis will be placed on examining international business related legal questions that are particularly relevant to Australian business.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1give an overview of current domestic and international arrangements for the regulation of international business
2identify the legal and non-legal issues involved with the regulation of international business
3identify emerging and contemporary policy issues involved with the regulation of international business, and with the growing importance of the corporation and the multinational enterprise in global business law
4identify and outline the role of the international courts and tribunals in which international business law issues may be resolved

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
