## Unit aim

Introduces students to statistical concepts and techniques relevant to their degree. Statistical tools to model and analyse real-world situations and data are developed, enabling students to enhance their decision-making skills. The interpretation and communication of the results obtained is emphasised. Throughout the unit, Excel will be used for statistical calculations.

Topic 1: Descriptive statistics
Topic 2: Numerical descriptive measures
Topic 3: Probability
Topic 4: Normal probability and sampling distributions
Topic 5: Estimation and confidence intervals – single mean and proportion
Topic 6: Introduction to hypothesis testing – single mean and proportion
Topic 7: Hypothesis testing – two sample tests
Topic 8: Simple linear regression
Topic 9: Introduction to multiple regression

## Learning outcomes
