Unit description

This unit aims to develop knowledge and skills in change management and organisational development suited to HR practitioners, middle or senior management and those involved in internal or external organisational consulting. There is an emphasis on practical skills and ethical practice supported by research.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1synthesise theories and models of organisational behaviour, organisational change and development and their critiques
2critique the range of change interventions in relation to their appropriateness to a range of research and evaluate critically the impact organisational change interventions at all levels of an organisation
3analyse organisational scenarios and critically discuss their effects on individuals, work groups and organisations.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  1. synthesise theories and models of organisational behaviour, organisational change and development and their critiques
  2. critique the range of change interventions in relation to their appropriateness to a range of research and evaluate critically the impact organisational change interventions at all levels of an organisation
  3. analyse organisational scenarios and critically discuss their effects on individuals, work groups and organisations.
