Unit description
Ensures students learn the foundational skills required for entry to the health care environment. This unit promotes the translation of theory into the practice of midwifery for well women and babies including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. It prepares the first-year midwifery student to practise in accordance with the principles of best practice, safety, quality and partnership and the boundaries of regulatory documents.

- Communicating in the health care environment
- Preventing and controlling infections
- Providing comprehensive care for well women and their babies
- Medication safety
- ANMAC Midwifery Professional Experiences (MPE) requirements
Learning outcomes
