Unit description
Develops advanced level skills and knowledge in relation to collaborative music making practices, songwriting, composition, arrangement and music performance and presentation. Students will rehearse and perform with two ensembles including a large instrumental ensemble and a student led project ensemble.
Unit content
- Musical direction, conducting, rehearsal and performance techniques in large instrumental ensembles
- Advanced level chart reading and writing.
- Advanced level improvisation and soloing techniques related to selected repertoire
- Advanced level stagecraft, presentation and audience engagement.
- Arrangement techniques relevant to large instrumental ensembles
- Project development and management skills for collaborative creative projects
