Unit description
Builds on the skills and knowledge gained in Music Craft V, challenging and developing intermediate level performance, songwriting or production skills through analysis and critique of repertoire and the application of studio specific techniques. Further develops intermediate level music theory and musicianship skills and knowledge (including notation software and digital audio workstation software). Students participate in practical and lab sessions and participate in one to one and small group tuition in their chosen studio practice area.

Students are required to have access to personal instruments and practice equipment including;
Voice: Microphone, metronome and manuscript paper.
Bass: Bass guitar, lead, tuner, metronome and manuscript paper.
Guitar: Guitar (acoustic or electric), lead, tuner, metronome and manuscript paper.
Keys: Access to keyboard, metronome and manuscript paper.
Drums: Drum sticks, brushes, practice pad, metronome and manuscript paper.
Songwriting: As prescribed by individual studio lecturer.
Production: Access to a DAW of choice, interface, microphone, studio monitors and/or good quality studio headphone (for use with music software in the Mac Lab - V117)
Other: As prescribed by individual studio lecturer.
