Unit description

Develops advanced level skills and knowledge in relation to collaborative music making practices, production and performance. Students will collaborate in a small ensemble setting to produce studio recorded tracks and participate in practical sessions focused on expanding production skills and techniques.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1Demonstrate advanced level instrumental and/or vocal techniques and/or production techniques in a small ensemble setting
2Plan, evaluate and reflect on outcomes of a collaborative creative recorded project
3Present advanced level recorded creative works
4Demonstrate ongoing advanced level practice and preparation skills necessary for participation in advanced level ensembles

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

  • Performance students are required to provide all their own leads, microphones, tuners, drumsticks and metronomes and must wear shoes in the D Block building at all times. Students are to provide their own ear plugs if required.
