Unit description
Learners critically explore contemporary issues in naturopathic medicine and their intersection with naturopathic philosophy. These include the socio-political implications of medical dominance, and the impact of global developments in naturopathic medicine. Learners apply the skills of critical thinking and reflection to examine these issues through different conceptual frameworks, and assess how these different perspectives impact contemporary clinical practice.
Unit content
Topic 1: Metaparadigm and theoretical frameworks in naturopathic medicine.
Topic 2: Medical dominance and naturopathic medicine.
Topic 3: Global developments in naturopathic medicine.
Topic 4: Implications and applications of naturopathic philosophy to contemporary clinical practice.
Topic 5: Modernisation of naturopathic medicine and its distinction from other health disciplines.
Topic 6: Evidence-based clinical decision making in contemporary clinical practice.
