Unit description
Builds on the knowledge and skills gained in Nursing Practices I to enable students to further develop their critical thinking and safe practice in the management of the deteriorating patient in the acute inpatient care setting. Practice in laboratory sessions, and simulated rehearsal, will prepare students to safely assess and manage the care of a patient in the acute inpatient care setting. Students will complete 160hrs of PEP in this unit.
Unit content
- Introduction to the deteriorating patient in the acute inpatient setting
- Central venous system and respiratory system
- Gastrointestinal system and nutrition
- Renal system, endocrine system and reproductive conditions
- Musculoskeletal system and neurological system
- Acute mental health deterioration
