Unit description
Deepens the skills of osteopathic diagnosis and treatment to a clinical practice level, and develops reflective practice on ethical and patient-centred problem solving in clinical practice. Students are introduced to high velocity technique, its evidence base and application in conditions of the lumbar spine, pelvis and lower limbs.
Unit content
- Osteopathic diagnosis – integration of screening procedures and spinal biomechanical findings using the neuromusculoskeletal model
- Osteopathic technique – high velocity technique – evidence base and introductory techniques for the spine, pelvis and lower limbs
- Introduction to clinical reasoning using an osteopathic approach
- Rehabilitation strategies for chronic pain presentations – clinical guidelines
- External clinical placement – observation in osteopathic clinics
Learning outcomes
