Unit description
Introduces assessment and intervention in the management of the paediatric patient, through knowledge of common presentations and developmental models. Students develop communication, consent, treatment, and assessment skills unique to the paediatric consultation.
Unit content
- Informed consent considerations for paediatrics
- Introduction to common paediatric presentations and evidence-based management
- Assessment of developmental milestones and safety considerations
- Paediatric assessment and treatment
- Integrated care in the context of lifespan, family, society and culture
- Paediatric case studies. Use of evidence-based reasoning in case studies
