Unit description
Introduces Pedorthic treatment options for clients with foot health or performance issues, including recognising special design and functional features of medical grade footwear, sports footwear and protective footwear. This unit also introduces comprehensive alterations to various prefabricated footwear, including sports footwear and their construction principles, according to the medical and health needs of the client.
Unit content
1. Work Health and Safety (WHS) in a Pedorthic clinic and laboratory environment.2. Materials, design, fit, function, biomechanical properties, application and construction methods for: a. General footwear b. Protective footwear c. Sports footwear d. Medical grade footwear
3. Existing orthotic appliances and prosthesis and their impact on footwear fitting and function
4. Pedorthic treatment modalities for various foot pathologies, altering footwear properties to manage pathologies and deformities
5. Body, lower limb and footwear alignment under consideration of static and dynamic conditions in context with existing pathology and Pedorthics
6. Pedorthic modalities and their impact on human posture and gait, including leg length discrepancies and spinal deformities
