Unit description

Application of core concepts of project procurement through in structure and problem-based learning experiences. Students develop a critical ability in contract development, negotiation and incentivising: demonstrating a higher-level understanding of the project incentive-performance relationship.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate a critical understanding of contract types, in addition to the contract-performance relationship
2critically evaluate theories and concepts underpinning buyer-contractor relationships as it pertains to project management
3demonstrate an ability to creatively negotiate project plans and incentives to achieve the highest level of group-benefit, without sacrificing performance
4display a higher-level ability in explaining, evaluating and developing clear legal, financial and technical components of project contracts

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
