Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

understand, analyse, manage, and reflect on ethical issues by applying the APS Code of Ethics, decision-making models, and legal frameworks

demonstrate professional oral communication skills, including counselling and interview skills

demonstrate ability to employ professional and inter-professional communication skills, in a culturally responsive manner, with socially and culturally diverse clients typical to the placement and where possible across the lifespan

demonstrate an understanding of culturally-responsive practice, including culturally appropriate therapeutic approaches, and the ability to engage in self-reflection
