Unit description
Builds on previous learning and focuses on the application of foundational knowledge in the areas of cardiovascular health. Students will develop theoretical and practical skills for exercise assessment, and the design and delivery of safe, evidence based interventions for individuals with cardiovascular conditions and co-morbidities.
Unit content
- Pathological and pathophysiological bases of cardiovascular conditions and co-morbidities.
- Multidisciplinary management of cardiovascular conditions and co-morbidities.
- Cardiovascular indications and contraindications for exercise.
- Clinical exercise testing and monitoring.
- Design and delivery of safe and effective, evidence based exercise interventions.

4 | apply and adapt critical thinking and clinical reasoning to provide timely identification of, and response(s) to clinical safety risks for exercise for individuals with cardiovascular conditions |
5 | interpret and professionally communicate clinical status, treatment and intervention rationales, progression and outcome(s) to specialist and non-specialist audiences |
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
