Provides foundations of human embryological development, with emphasis on tissue origin and differentiation to various support tissues and organ systems. Histology as the cellular basis of physiology is presented, with discussion of structure supporting function. The clinical aspects and embryological origin of histological abnormalities will be examined. Histological techniques will be covered in accordance with standard medical laboratory practices.

Topic 3: Embryonic period (organogenesis)/muscular system and common histopathologies

Topic 5: Bone development/skeletal tissue and common histopathologies
Topic 6: Embryonic folding/digestive system and common histopathologies
Topic 7: Respiratory development/respiratory system and common histopathologies
Topic 8: Circulatory development/cardiovascular system and common histopathologies
Topic 9: Kidney development/renal system and common histopathologies
Topic 10: Gonadal development/reproductive system and common histopathologies
