Unit description
Prepares students for speech pathology practice when working with children and adults presenting with fluency disorders. Students acquire knowledge and skills pertinent to assessment, diagnosis and intervention for fluency disorders. Students also strengthen knowledge and skills required for applying holistic, evidence-based speech pathology services, and for inter-professional collaboration.

- Nature and theories and factors associated with stuttering
- Fluency disruptions, cluttering and stuttering
- Impact of stuttering including in relation to the International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health
- Evidence-Based Practice and research translation regarding fluency assessment and intervention
- Assessment and measurement of stuttering quantitatively and qualitatively
- Intervention for stuttering for preschool, school age and adolescent children and adults
- Principles and practices in different intervention approaches
- Lidcombe Program
- Camperdown Program
- Service delivery models including technology in treatment
Learning outcomes
