Unit description
Enables application of critical and creative reasoning applicable to assessment and treatment services across various Range of Practice Areas relevant to contemporary Speech Pathology practice. Students will strengthen abilities in application, analysis, evaluation and synthesis.
Unit content
This capstone unit covers:
- Critical and creative thinking and reasoning applied to: Speech Pathology Range of Practice Principles, the Professional Framework, Ethics, all Range of Practice Areas [ROPAs], and Competency Based Occupational Standards for entry level contemporary practice
- Broadening Scope of Practice for Speech Pathologists
- Meta-awareness.
Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to: | |

3 | develop recommendations based on appraisal of assessment data, integration, and hypotheses of differential diagnosis |
4 | employ and convey critical and creative reasoning pertaining to assessment and intervention across ROPAs |
5 | design and demonstrate holistic and innovative intervention plans and strategies in situations of co-occurring deficits |
6 | apply Speech Pathology Range of Practice principles to scenarios relevant to practice |
7 | evaluate and demonstrate meta-awareness of areas of competence for Speech Pathology Practice |
