Unit description

Develops the knowledge and skills required to assess, diagnose and treat voice and swallowing disorders in children and adults. With the focus on laryngology, students will draw on knowledge of human anatomy and physiology as it relates to laryngeal, pharyngeal, articulatory, respiratory and neurological systems and how these systems evolve across the lifespan.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1demonstrate multi-dimensional assessment of voice disorders in children and/or adults
2demonstrate clinical and instrumental assessment of swallowing disorders in children and/or adults
3analyse and interpret assessment data to inform diagnosis and prognosis for children and/or adults with swallowing and/or voice disorders
4demonstrate intervention options for the management of voice and swallowing disorders in children and/or adults

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
