Gold CoastSession 2Session 2

Unit description

Facilitates application of knowledge, skills and attitudes to a live clinical practice experience within a supervised internal clinic; students providing actual clinical services for children with speech, language and pre-literacy problems. With guidance, students appraise children's communication, formulate and implement intervention plans, measure and document outcomes, involve caregivers and engage in reflective practice.

Unit content

Tutorials consolidate and expand on content related to child speech and language and its application to clinical contexts. Also covered are further foundational clinical skills including assessment and intervention planning, goal writing, and reporting on clinical outcomes.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
