Unit description
Focuses on developing a conceptual understanding of psychometric test construction and current and emerging forms of inferential testing. Reviews research methodology and data analysis concepts at an advanced level with a view to being incorporated into a research project. Psychometric test construction and traditional and modern approaches to inferential testing are discussed and performed.
Unit content
- Construction of psychological measurements, including exploratory factor analysis
- Multiple regression analysis, moderation, and mediation
- Analysis of experimental designs
- Review and critique of the logic behind null hypothesis testing
- Alternatives to null hypothesis testing
- Exploring data analysis strategies for a research project
