Unit description
This unit builds on Curriculum Specialisation Unit I to extend students’ understanding of secondary teaching in the key learning area of Human Society and its Environment (HSIE). Students focus on two or more Years 11–12 (Stage 6) syllabuses. They explore fieldwork learning and unit development with appropriate literacy, numeracy and assessment strategies. There is further opportunity for students to reflect critically on a range of pedagogical and curriculum issues related to the teaching of HSIE in the modern world.
Unit content
In relation to at least two (2) HSIE Stage 6 syllabus areas:
- Knowledge of HSIE Stage 6 syllabi content
- Knowledge of pedagogy in relation to teaching HSIE
- Knowledge of curriculum requirements for teaching HSIE
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
