Unit description
Develops conceptual knowledge of the holistic approach to curriculum in the early childhood setting. A focus is on an integrated approach to learning key curriculum areas of science and technology, mathematics, creative arts, language, history and physical wellbeing for children aged from birth to five years. Students develop children’s conceptual knowledge of these areas, with links made to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) (DEEWR, 2009) and the National Quality Standard (ACECQA, 2020).

Module 1: Defining curriculum in early childhood
Module 2: Integrating curriculum approaches in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
Module 3: Integrating science, mathematics and technology into ECE
Module 4: Integrating language and literature, and creative arts into ECE
Module 5: Integrating physical and emotional wellbeing into ECE
Module 6: Integrating history and culture, time, equity and social justice into ECE
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit.
